Machu Picchu is one of the most popular and most visited archeological sites of the world. It is situated high in the Andes Mountains in modern Peru. Machu Picchu is located 2,300 meters above sea level at 112 km. from Cuzco, at the top of a ridge, hiding it from the Urabamba gorge below. The Temple of the Sun is one of the most recognized ruins of Machu Picchu and its round tapering tower features the excellent stonework.
Next to the Sun Temple there is three-walled house, called the Fountain Caretaker's House. Opposite the Sun Temple, there are the structures called the Royal Sector. Royal Sector is a still-functioning water canal and series of interconnected fountains. The main fountain is distinguished by both its size and excellent stonework.
