Tourist Attractions In Machu Picchu – Peru

Machu Picchu is one of the most popular and most visited archeological sites of the world. It is situated high in the Andes Mountains in modern Peru. Machu Picchu is located 2,300 meters above sea level at 112 km. from Cuzco, at the top of a ridge, hiding it from the Urabamba gorge below. Its wonderful ruins and its unusual location on high mountains attract large number of visitors every year.

There are lots of fascinating attractions in the Machu Picchu that never fail to mesmerize the visitors. The Inca city of Machu Picchu is wonderful tourist destination in Peru and popular for its amazing Inca ruins. Machu Picchu was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983. The Temple of the Sun is one of the most recognized ruins of Machu Picchu and its round tapering tower features the excellent stonework.

Next to the Sun Temple there is three-walled house, called the Fountain Caretaker's House. Opposite the Sun Temple, there are the structures called the Royal Sector. Royal Sector is a still-functioning water canal and series of interconnected fountains. The main fountain is distinguished by both its size and excellent stonework.

The Temple of the Three Windows is the beautiful location of the city where each trapezoid extraordinarily cut with views of the bold Andes in the distance across the Urubamba gorge. To the left, if you're facing the Temple of the Three Windows there is the Principal Temple having masterful stonework in its three high walls. If you are an adventurous visitor you can climb Huayna Picchu, the towering granite peak that overlooks Machu Picchu for the north.
