Machu Picchu is one of the most popular and most visited archeological sites of the world. It is situated high in the Andes Mountains in modern Peru. Machu Picchu is located 2,300 meters above sea level at 112 km. from Cuzco, at the top of a ridge, hiding it from the Urabamba gorge below. The Temple of the Three Windows is the beautiful location of the city where each trapezoid extraordinarily cut with views of the bold Andes in the distance across the Urubamba gorge. To the left, if you're facing the Temple of the Three Windows there is the Principal Temple having masterful stonework in its three high walls. If you are an adventurous visitor you can climb Huayna Picchu, the towering granite peak that overlooks Machu Picchu for the north.

Main Temple, another attraction of Machu Picchu is situated north of the Sacred Square, very near the Temple of Three Windows. To the south of the complex, between the Temple of the Sun and the Royal Palace, the area houses a series of water fountains, the only sources of the vital element for the residents of Machu Picchu.

The Tomb is site of worship and offerings to the mummified bodies of the main authorities. In the entryway it shows a statuette portraying the symbol of the goddess Mother Earth. In its core there are niches, monolithic pillars and other accessories used for religious means and to attend the mummies. Machu Picchu is the most exciting and stunning accomplishment of the Inca Empire. It is possibly one of the wonderful destinations to visit in Peru.
